Chapel Hill, North Carolina is home to a growing community of reading specialists, and the 12 tutors listed in our directory for this area hold credentials in the Wilson Reading System, a structured-literacy approach rooted in Orton-Gillingham principles that addresses phonemic awareness, decoding, and fluency at a systematic, multisensory level. Parents in Chapel Hill and the surrounding Research Triangle communities of Durham and Raleigh often seek this kind of structured support for children who show signs of dyslexia or persistent difficulty with word recognition and reading fluency. The Wilson Reading System is designed for readers who have not responded to conventional classroom instruction, making it a common choice for families navigating evaluations, IEPs, or private intervention paths. The tutors listed here serve a range of ages and skill levels, from foundational phonics work to more advanced reading comprehension goals.
